What happened to Reverge Labs?
Reverge Labs is kinda gone. According to an open letter on Lab Zero’s website, the whole team at Reverge Labs was laid off this past June. That team then formed Lab Zero Games to continue work on Skullgirls and will continue to work with Autumn Games, who currently own the Skullgirls property.
What happened with Skullgirls?
In June 2020, multiple allegations of misconduct were made against lead designer and programmer Mike Zaimont. Two individuals claimed that Zaimont had made inappropriate sexual comments towards them, which triggered an internal investigation of Zaimont’s behavior within Lab Zero Games.
Who owns Skullgirls now?
Although Hidden Variable has worked on Skullgirls Mobile since 2015, we are a 100% independent studio from Lab Zero Games. Our formal relationship is with Autumn Games, who are the official IP holders for Skullgirls.

Is Annie still coming to Skullgirls?
Annie is a playable character in Skullgirls 2nd Encore. While she failed to win the character voting (losing out to Eliza and Beowulf), she was announced for Skullgirls Mobile several years later on August 14th, 2020 and Skullgirls 2nd Encore on January 31st, 2021 after having been teased in February 10th, 2020.
Does Mike Z still work for Lab Zero?
Lab Zero Games has been removed from Skullgirls development. They announced in a joint statement yesterday that Lab Zero will no longer handle Skullgirls development, nor will Mike Z continue his involvement in the series.
