Why does my voltage guage only show 9-10 volts?
Why does my voltage guage only show 9-10 volts?
My voltage guage usually points near the red mark at 9-10 volts. Batteries cranks the starter quickly and it does not seem to lack any electric power. Some times driving, it will raise to about 12 V, but never above, and the next minut point at 9 again.
What’s the voltage regulator on my Silverado truck?
The truck now has 85,000 miles and on my way to go camping (about 125 mile trip one way) the voltage regulator dropped to around 11 or 12. Of course I panicked and found the nearest parts store to check for a bad alternator, they said all good no problems.
Why does the voltmeter fluctuate between 12 and 14 volts?
This will cause the voltmeter to fluctuate between 12 and 14 volts as opposed to non-regulated systems that usually maintain a more consistent reading of 14 volts. This fluctuation with the RVC system is normal system operation and NO repairs should be attempted.
What should the voltage be on a truck?
You want 12.4v -13v at the battery with 12.8v being ideal with the engine off. x3, load test the batteries one at a time first. Is the tach behaving nicely? or erratic?

Why does the battery Guage drop to zero?
Once it drop it stays there until the truck is shut off and restarted. There’s a code P1682 battery charging voltage low. I’m assuming it’s either a bad connection on a problem in the PCM. Disconnected and re-connected the plugs on the PCM.
Why is the voltage on my truck so low?
Voltage is down to 12.3 while engine is running. I’m thinking bad brushes. Going to tear into the alternator in a few days. Kinda strange the way the gauge in the dash responds tho. Sure doesn’t show the actual voltage, very misleading. These trucks dont like low voltage – makes the brain do wierd things.
Why does the Volt gauge drop all the way down?
Lesson learned, volt gauge on the dashboard dropping all the way down likely means alternator. Funny thing is it’s probably set up that way in the ECM to warn the average (clueless) person of something wrong.
What’s the voltage reading on my Street Glide?
I have a question just for my knowledge and maybe some others. I’ve noticed on my ’08 SG with 90,000+ miles now that the voltage meter at start up is around 14.5-14.7 volts. After riding some time on the freeway, it goes down to around 13 volts and then when I get off doing streets, it goes back up to 14.5-14.7 volts.
How can I check the voltage on my bike?
If you have a volt ohm meter (VOM) measure the DC voltage across the battery and compare it to your gauge. Does the odometer read properly with the key on and not running? Does the low beam work when bike isnt running? You may just have a bad headlamp.
Why does the Volt gauge fluctuate while the engine is running?
If you have voltage fluctuations while the engine is running it is an indicator of a problem with the charging circuit, or a major short. The battery condition is not related to the voltage guage unless it is really shot, and we can see this is not the case. Either you have something kicking in and causing a major draw, or a bad voltage regulator.
How can I Stop my volt gauge from fluctuating?
Get two of those felt battery terminal rings, put oil on them then put one on each of your nice clean battery terminals and clamp the cables on tight tight. Those pads stop acid that seep though the tiny gap where the terminals protrude from battery. Your terminals will stay clean and wet weather will not be an issue anymore.
