What is a PCV vacuum port?
What is a PCV vacuum port?
The major component in the (PCV) system is the PCV valve. It consists of a simple spring-loaded valve with a sliding pintle inside. A hose connects the top of the (PCV) valve to a vacuum port on the throttle body; carburetor or intake manifold. Allowing the vapors to be siphoned directly into the engine.
Is PCV manifold vacuum?
PCV valve. Intake manifold vacuum is applied to the crankcase via the PCV valve. The PCV valve controls the flow of crankcase gases entering the intake system. At idle, the manifold vacuum is high, which would draw in a large quantity of crankcase gases, causing the engine to run too lean.
Do you have to use a PCV valve?
You need the pcv and a breather. They should be on opposite sides to create an air flow through the engine to get the bad stuff out. Without a pcv you run the risk of blowing out seals or actually having an explosion in the crankcase. The engine will also sludge up inside quickly.
Where is the PCV port on a carb?
It’s right behind the where the carb sits. You can use either one as long as the manifold port is plumbed into the manifold plenum and not into one of the runners. If it’s hooked into one of the manifold runners, that cylinder can load up and become fouled.
Is there a vacuum port on a Weber carb?
Prob #2- the stock carb had a vacuum port for positive crankcase ventilation and the Weber does not. There is a adapter plate shown in the instructions that goes between the carb and the manifold and it has a vacuum port labelled “Power Brake Fitting”.
Where to connect various vacuum accessories to the CARB?
One to the tank, one to the base of the carb and the small one to the port above the throttle blades on the carb. There is no temperature sensor. When the vacuum above the blades gets high enough (ie above idle conditions), that vacuum opens the purge valve. None of this matters.
Where is the vacuum located on an Edelbrock carb?
Aug 19, · Re: Edelbrock Carb Vacuum Hookups The vacuum present at the driver’s side port on an Edelbrock carb should be exactly the same as the rear port, which is the same as the vacuum in the manifold. There is no flow involved, both points are connected directly to the intake plenum.
Is there a vacuum hose for a PCV valve?
Also, keep in mind that some new models, don’t have a PCV valve at all. Instead, you’ll find a simple vacuum hose going from the valve cover to an air inlet duct.

Where are the vacuum ports on an XT?
1) Brake booster – originally connected to the base of the carb (rear). 2) Headlight doors – originally connected to a manifold vacuum port. 3) Vapor canister control line (this port signals the purge valve to open and was originally connected to the small vacuum port near the top of the carb.
How big of a power valve do you need for a carburetor?
The first thing you need to check is your float level. No fuel should run from the sight hole unless you shake the vehicle. Next check the engine vacuum at idle. (in gear if A/T) if it is 12″ or more a 6.5″ power valve will usually be fine. Anything below 12″ divide in half. For example 9″ vacuum will use a 4.5″ power valve.
