Why is the rear door on my GMC Sierra not opening?

Both rear doors on my 2004 GMC Sierra 1500 would stick or would not open. I was able to open the passenger side and found the lower latch mechanism was froze. Sprayed with a penetrant and kept working the latch assembly open and close and got it to work OK.
