How do you Prime a Duramax fuel system?
To complete the installation the fuel system needs to be primed again by pumping the plunger on top of the filter head then purging the air from the system through the bleeder screw. This process may need to be repeated a few times to get all of the air out of the system. After starting the truck, check for leaks before driving.

Is there a fuel leak at the top of the tank?
I dropped the tank down in order to see the top of the fuel pump and the fuel lines, started the truck up, checked around, and couldn’t find any leaks. But, at the top of the tank near the front corner, there is a plastic 90 degree elbow sticking out. I looked around, and then found a plastic vent line that was left hanging.

What kind of truck has a gas leak?
As luck would have it, gas is leaking from the top front end of the main gas tank. Truck is an ’02 Avalanche, 2500 series with the 8.1 liter engine. Apparently this is a common issue with the GMT800 truck.
