Paul in Romans 6:3-9 explains the symbolism and the reason behind baptism. When we are baptized, we are baptized into Christ’s death. But this is a view toward being raised from the dead to walk in newness of life. If there is no raising of the dead, there is no newness of life, and then there is no reason for baptism.
