What causes a blower motor to stop working?
In a situation where the motor doesn’t work on any speed, the most likely causes are: a blown power supply fuse, a bad motor ground connection, bad motor speed control module or a failed motor. On all systems, a failed blower motor is least likely. Blower motors generally don’t fail out of the clear blue.
Why is the blower on my Silverado not working?
My brother had this kind of issue with his 2002 Silverado. He changed the blower motor resistor and it worked for a while but then there wasn’t any air coming out except for through defrost. There is a heater/ac door actuator motor that went bad on his truck.
How is the speed of the blower motor controlled?
The electronic module that controls the speed of the blower motor is called a blower motor control module. In some cars, the blower motor has only 4 or 5 fixed speeds. In this case, the speed of the blower motor is controlled by a blower motor resistor.

If you are getting air flow right now through all vent settings then you shouldn’t need the door actuator motor.
Why is my blower not working on my GMC Sierra?
When you switch to high, the blower motor relay coil circuit is grounded and voltage is now applied directly through the relay to the blower motor; bypassing the resistors. So, I would look to see if the relay is ok. It is a five terminal relay.
What kind of motor does a variable speed blower use?
Variable speed blower motors don’t use a blower motor resistor. Instead they use a blower motor speed control or a power transistor. Variable speed motors are most often used in vehicles with automatic climate control.
