Why does my Sierra remote start not work?
I have a 2014 sierra with a factory remote starter. Recently when I try to start the truck cold it does not work but if I start with the key and run for a while the remote start works and continues to work as long as the engine is warm. Going back to the dealership tomorrow to get it looked at again.

Everyone keeps saying its the check engine light thats causing the remote starter to not work but how can this be the case when the light only comes on AFTER a remote start failure. I believe its actually the remote start failure that is the cause of the check engine light in many cases.

There are ways to override any command start with engine light active.

Started up no problem, except the CEL was on. Other than the remote start and CEL, it seems to drive normal. Does anyone know how I can go about fixing this without having to take it to a stealership? Just checked the owner’s manual out.
