How can you tell if your four wheel drive actuator is bad?

Symptoms of a Bad or Failing Front Axle Engagement Switch

  1. Difficulty engaging four-wheel drive. One of the first symptoms of a potential problem with the front axle engagement switch is difficulty engaging the vehicle’s four-wheel drive system.
  2. Four-wheel drive becomes stuck.
  3. Four-wheel drive mode does not activate.

How to get 2 lo from a 4×4 actuator?

You get ‘2 LO’ by breaking the ground wire in the circuit IIRC…. The brown wire is a 12V supply wire…. I’m sorry to hear you had troubles, Chris. I looked up the price of the electric actuator – it’s very expensive for what it is.

Do you have a push button 4×4 actuator?

With 8 people in the car, it was a little slippery sometimes. It was GREAT to have the ‘push-button’ 4×4 system. P.S. Does this mean that since my ‘burb is a ’99 model that I already have an electric actuator?

How often do you engage the 4×4 system?

I had to engage 4×4 about 6-7 times the last few days to gain enough traction to get around. With 8 people in the car, it was a little slippery sometimes. It was GREAT to have the ‘push-button’ 4×4 system. P.S.

How does the thermal actuator work on a 4WD truck?

But the Posi-Lok system stays locked even when the ignition is off. The thermal actuator came first, when you engage 4WD there is a soft piece of plastic, maybe even wax that has to heat up before the actuator engages. The electric version came out in 98 or so and engages immediately.

Is there a problem with the front disconnect actuator?

Front disconnect actuator does not disengage smoothly. After turning the dial to 4WD, the light would blink several times, stop, and then blink several more times before staying off. My mechanic changed one of the 4WD motors, but that did not fix the problem.
