I truly believe this is a diesel thing – All diesel powered vehicles I have owned over the past 30 years have had pessimistic fuel gauges compared to my gasoline powered vehicles. My Duramax is “empty” at 20 gallons. My other current diesel vehicle has the reserve light come on at 19.8 or so (on a 25 gal tank).

If you wait a minute afte filling up you whould be able to get another 2-4 gallons in it due to foam from splashing in. I had one time I was able to get 25.7 gallons in my LBZ CC truck. My LLY however, has a larger tank. it is a longbed extended cab and I believe it is somewhere over 30 gal.
