What kind of oil do I put in my Duramax Diesel?
No excuse for not putting an OEM filter on your truck. Search the forum for the Oil Filter Shootout. Lots of great info there about which filters are better than others. I like many others use Mobil 1 (for Turbo Diesel) fully synthetic oil without any issues. Welcome to the board. I would find another dealer to service the truck.

Thank you, I was concerned that it would not get the proper lubrication throughout the engine. Manual says 15W-40 and 5W-40 @ zero f and below. See the bottom of the second page that emmitt attached. the first number, (5 or 15) is the viscosity of the oil when cold. The secondnumber, 40 is the viscosity of the oil when it is warm.
