no torsion keys are not side specific, can go on any side, sounds to me if you didn’t have any pressure on your keys when you went to take them out that they were indexed incorrectly, this same thing happened to me when i took my truck back to stock, I had to crank them all the way to gain a flat cv angle.

How do you remove a key from a torsion bar?
Wiggle the torsion bar, and free it from the torsion bar key. Use a hammer to hit the key if it is difficult to remove. The key should fall right out when detached from the torsion bar. Figure 2.
