Can you put a 460 engine on a 351M?
If you already have a 460 that is still good you can take the heads and intake from the 88-97 and put them on any 460 engine. A 460 will even bolt up to the same bellhousing that a 351M or 400 will.
Can you run a 460 on a F250?
Used a 96′ 460 in my 67′ F250 using this conversion, and couldn’t be happier. Saved me a lot of frustration trying to convert the harness myself, and made for a clean install. Had it running within a day of getting the harness. Hook up power/ground/ignition signal to the ecu, plug in the connectors and it’s ready to run.

The fan shroud needed some trimming to clear the alternator pulley and belts. It sits closer to the front of the truck with the serpentine belt. The transmission kick down linkage is a cable operated one on the EFI motors and a linkage operated one with the carburator, the cable pulls ,the linkage pushes.

460 EFI Guys came into the picture after the breaking point… when I gave up all hope on this garbage 1991 EGR/SMOG crap and ripped it all out. I wanted to retain EFI – but was about to put a carburetor on it I was so angry.

Just installed the Twisted smog box with all the smog elimination hardware on my 1992 F-250 460. I’m very satisfied with the power increase and difference in throttle response, more easily diagnosing the emissions garbage under the hood and allowing the engine to be more open was pretty liberating too.
