How do you remove an inline engine from a boat?

How do you remove an inline engine from a boat?

1. Remove the engine hood cover and all panels that interfere with engine removal. Place to one side out of the way. 2. Disconnect the negative battery cable, then the positive battery cable. As a precaution, remove the battery from the boat. 3. Disconnect the throttle cable at the carburetor (Figure 2).

What should I do if my boat engine is clogged?

If not, you can at least remove and clear the filter element of any debris, and drain any accumulated water. Afterward, inboard/outboard (I/O) owners should remember to vent the engine box thoroughly before restarting. If you don’t, a clogged filter will seem like a minor issue.

Where is the flush port on an outboard engine?

Smaller and midsize four-stroke outboards use the flush port at the rear of the engine. The engine must be warmed up to open the thermostat and circulate water throughout the engine’s cooling passages completely. The engine can be vertical or tilted.

When to use a flush bag on an outboard engine?

Bag and Muffs: Engine should be vertical, run no more than 800-900 rpm in neutral for 15 minutes with the prop removed. Be sure the engine is receiving cooling water (by checking the overboard indicator). If your outboard has more than one set of cooling inlets, a flush bag should be used.

What causes water in cylinders on a boat?

Over sized , heavy engines can cause that water up the exhaust pipe & riser. Add in the timing now used in engies & water in cylinders WILL happen. Does not need to be a sudden stop only. A long wooden cruiser had new big block Mercs installed.

Are there any mechanical problems with a Tige 21?

My buddy has a Tige 21 I ski/wakeboard boat. It is a good boat. I tend to do maintenance for him, the only mechanical problem he has had is the waterpump wasting itself because it is all plastic.

Are there any drive problems on a Tige?

Other than the waterpump issue, he has had no drive problems at all. Inboard motor drivetrains are great, if they are maintained properly you do not have near the problem of I/O setups. The outdrive of an I/O boat is a nightmare of boots and seals and u-joints and gears. Inboards do not suffer, they are not as complicated.
