They interviewed “Honest John”. He said he knew of seven 1 litre Ecoboosts having the problem (ie clutch failure on new Focuses within the first 6,000 miles). Why does the clutch stop working on my focus?
My girlfriends focus the clutch has stopped working. The clutch pedal goes up and down but it won’t go into gear. The brake/clutch fluid is very low however the brakes are OK. I’m surprised there is no level warning sensor on this car. Anyway I topped up the reservoir but it has not made any difference. What seems to be the problem?
Why does my Ford C-Max clutch keep failing?
A friend of mine recently had a similar issue on his 18,000 mile Ford C-Max, attributed to a failed hydraulic cylinder which then emptied fluid all over the clutch thus ruining it. I wonder if there is a hydraulic problem with these cars that Ford aren’t talking about.

Is there a recall on the Ford Focus clutch?
The clutch is a wear part. If any clutch burns out quickly then it would be easy to tell anybody that they were too hard on the clutch and they are on the hook for the replacement. But Ford issued a recall over the clutch. And that isn’t the language Ford used in said recall.

Why is my clutch slipping in my focus?
The clutch is not the problem, driver error is. The change to the PCM calibration will prevent excess throttle (or at least throw a check engine light) when it detects the clutch is slipping excessively to prevent the customer from continuing to burn it down.
