Why does my Ford Ranger stall at 3000 rpm?

Why does my Ford Ranger stall at 3000 rpm?

Anything above 3000 RPMs and it stalls outright. Other random times during idle it will mysteriously sputter and cough, then die. Already spent $100 replacing distributor cap, coil, rotor, plugs, and wires (everything except spark plugs, because I was lacking the correct tool). After doing work, Ranger ran fine (because it was already warm).

What happens when the fuel pump fails in a Ford Ranger?

When the internal parts/seals fail–they allow fuel to be dropped into the intake. Makes for extremely rich running, rotten economy, etc.. It’s a place to start. That and doing an actually fuel pressure test will show what the pump is..or is not doing.

When did my Ford Ranger start stalling out?

My problem began about 2 years ago. The truck would only stall out when I first began driving, after about a mile, and only if I was going downhill and was coming to a stop. Then it would putter and choke and ultimately stall out completely.

Why does my Ford Ranger run for a little then dies?

Next check is the fuel pressure regulator, your looking for fuel coming out the top and bleeding into the vacuum line thus flooding the engine. Another thing that happens is the distributor pickup coil can fracture, it runs good until it gets hot then it will go open and the engine stalls, and the ignition module can act the same way.

Can a Ford Ranger run with low fuel pressure?

So check the lift pump first if it is running and pumping a good stream of fuel then move onto the pressure pump, and yes your fuel pressure is low. Here is a chart. All makes and models. http://jameshalderman.com/links/book_adv_eng_perf_5/s_and_c/F uel_Pressure_Specifications.pdf

What does off throttle air control do on a Ford Ranger?

When you are off throttle air control is done with an idle air control (IAC) valve. This would be the first thing I’d look at. Do not assume that the error codes that come w/ the check engine light are unrelated no matter what anyone told you. Find out exactly what the error codes are/were and post them.
