Do you torque exhaust manifold bolts?

Do you torque exhaust manifold bolts?

Over tightening can damage the seal or cause the manifold to warp. Any thing that has a seal should absolutely be torqued to spec. Anything that has a torque spec; which is really everything should be to avoid snapped of bolts or things falling off from fasteners loosing over time do to vibration.

How do you change the exhaust manifold bolts?

Cap any holes in the turbocharger to prevent dust or dirt from entering. Measure the shank length of the exhaust manifold bolts. If they exceed 47.5 mm (1.87 in.), replace the bolts. Using new nuts, install the turbocharger on the exhaust manifold using the torque values listed in Table “Turbocharger Torque Values” . Table 2.

How to calculate the torque of an exhaust manifold?

Might be 1.5mm thread count. As for the sequencing. Start in the middle of the manifold and work outward, alternating side to side. Also move in steps to your final torque setting. Do not go all in on the first step. e.g. 1st step of torquing would be 9 ft/lbs, then second and final torque step would by 18 ft/lbs.

How much torque does a Silverado exhaust manifold have?

I’ve searched the web and came up with a few choices. It looks like the bolts are metric and “should” be torqued to 25nM (newton meters) or 18 ft/lbs of torque. This is if the bolts are of “low class or grade” If the bolts have 8.8 on the top of them, then they can take a little more torque – 37nM or 25ft/lbs of torque.

How big are the bolts on a botl manifold?

Here’s a link: Botl Torque by Grade I believe the bolts are 10mm x 1.25mm thread count. Might be 1.5mm thread count. As for the sequencing. Start in the middle of the manifold and work outward, alternating side to side. Also move in steps to your final torque setting.

How much torque do I need for an exhaust manifold?

Torque the LS1’s exhaust manifold bolts in two stages. Torque all of the bolts to 11 lb.-ft. on the first pass and 18 lb.-ft. on the second pass. The exhaust manifold heat shield bolts go on at 80 inch-pounds (not foot-pounds), the pipe-to-manifold bolts go on at 26 lb.-ft. and the manifold pipe nuts spec out to 26 lb.-ft. 00:00 09:12

What are the torque specs for a botl manifold?

Again depending on the grade of the bolt, torque specs will vary. Here’s a link: Botl Torque by Grade I believe the bolts are 10mm x 1.25mm thread count. Might be 1.5mm thread count. As for the sequencing. Start in the middle of the manifold and work outward, alternating side to side. Also move in steps to your final torque setting.

When to check torque on MerCruiser exhaust manifold?

THE TORQUE SHOULD THEN BE CHECKED AFTER RUNNING THE ENGINE FOR 30 MINUTES THEN AGAIN AFTER 20 HOURS. I have a question, am I supposed to torque the bolts to a spec? thanks for your help, Rodger.
