When to not use a performance fuel pump?
When to not use a performance fuel pump?
I highly recommend NOT using a performance fuel pump unless the extra fuel is needed for changes made to increase power. Otherwise the fuel flows around the system faster than it normally would, running into restrictions, picking up heat along the way.
How is fuel sucked into a fuel feed pump?
During the upward stroke of the plunger, suction is created in plunger space and fuel is sucked in, through the suction valve. During the downward stroke, caused by a cam arrangement, the fuel below the plunger is compressed, which forces the suction valve to close and pressure valve (Outlet valve) to open.
Why does a performance pump need to be replaced?
It would suck to replace your pump and then have it die because your fuel filter is clogged and it tries to push through the blockage by pushing 200 psi of fuel pressure. Performance pumps typically have the ability to flow more fuel while maintaining the same pressure since the fuel regulator is what determines this.
How does tuning a diesel engine increase power?
In essence, all diesel tuning to increase engine torque (and therefore Power) is achieved by getting more fuel into the engine or altering the point at which the fuel is injected in the combustion stroke (Injection Timing).
How does a diesel tuner work on a PowerStroke?
Diesel tuners, including chips, modules, and programmers, all work by interfacing with your Powerstroke engine management computer. The stock fueling parameters, such as injection timing boost pressure and fuel rail pressure, are then modified to free up hidden power and efficiency from your motor.
