Where is the temp sensor on a Chevy Venture?
Where is the temp sensor on a Chevy Venture?
Some thermostats can be put in upside down, so pay attention to the arrows on the thermostat. The water should flow from the engine towards the radiator. The temp sensor I think is in the rear passenger side of the engine on top.
What causes temperature fluctuations in a Chevy Venture?
The most likely cause of a temperature fluctuations is either a flauty temperature sending unit , air in cooling system or a defectective cooling fan . If the engine temperature is stable when driving at highway speed and temperature rises when idling or in traffic , the fan is the cause .
Why is the thermostat on my Chevy Venture not working?
Pam, your problem seems similar to the original question. If the engine’s temperature will not stabilize around 160° to 180°, regardless of whether you are moving or not, this usually is caused by a stuck open thermostat, or a thermostat that was replaced incorrectly.
What causes the car temp gauge to overheat?
The temp gauge goes to overheat. Here is what has been done in the past two weeks. New thermostat, proper coolant, new radiator cap, sensor, and just installed a used gauge panel. Fan is plugged in….heat sensor gun shows normal temps.

How can I tell if my Chevy Venture has a cold engine?
One check you can do without unbolting anything, (ONLY DO THIS WITH A COLD ENGINE) is to remove the radiator cap, make sure the radiator is completely full, start your COLD engine and see if the water in the radiator begins to move immediately. I CANT STRESS ENOUGH TO ONLY DO THIS WITH A COLD ENGINE!

What are the symptoms of a bad throttle position sensor?
A faulty throttle position sensor sends incorrect information to the ECM resulting in various issues in the engine, its performance, and fuel economy. Below are common symptoms of a faulty TPS. In most of the cases, all of these symptoms will show together making it easier to detect the faulty component. 1) Car Jerks
How to troubleshoot a temperature gauge in a car?
Temperature gauge troubleshooting begins with isolating the problem either to the gauge, sending unit, fuse or wiring. As with any electrical troubleshooting it is best to check all wiring connections are clean, tight and free of corrosion. The following process must be preformed with the ignition key turned to the “on” position.

What happens if you remove the radiator cap on a hot engine?
REMOVING THE RADIATOR CAP ON A HOT ENGINE CAN CAUSE SERIOUS BURNS FROM BOILING WATER.- besides this check will not work on a hot engine. If the thermostat is working as it should you should not see moving water for a few minutes. If water begins circulating immediately inside the radiator then the thermostat needs to be replaced.
What should coolant temp be when engine is hot?
With a good OBD2 code reader, you can also check the live data and the parameters of the CTS sensor. Check that the temperature value of the CTS is around 80-90c when the engine is hot. A lot of engine coolant temperature sensors have two wires and the sensor is controlled by Ohm.
How can I tell if my coolant temperature sensor is bad?
To diagnose the coolant temperature sensor, you need a repair manual for your car model to find what measurement values you should expect from the coolant temperature sensor. Connect an OBD2 Scanner and look for related trouble codes. Check the live data to see the temperature from the sensor.
How is the coolant temperature sensor on a car controlled?
A lot of engine coolant temperature sensors have two wires and the sensor is controlled by Ohm. Get a wiring diagram and find out what ohms you should have at a specific temperature to check the function. You can use a Digital multimeter. to check the Ohm between the pins.
How do you change the thermostat on a Chevy Venture?
It will require draining the coolant from the radiator, the removing the thermostat housing, usually two bolts. Some thermostats can be put in upside down, so pay attention to the arrows on the thermostat. The water should flow from the engine towards the radiator.
