Should fuel pressure drop as soon as the key is turned off?
Should fuel pressure drop as soon as the key is turned off? No, this is not a trick question! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif Before someone makes a smart remark, I know that the fuel pump shuts off immediately with the key. I installed a fuel pressure gauge in preparation for shimming the fuel pressure regulator.
What happens to fuel pressure when engine is off?
So overall fuel pressure is little bit higher than normal. Another thing I noticed is that when I shut off the engine fuel pressure drops rapidly to 5 psi, and I know it is not good. There are no obvious fuel leaks anywhere. So, what can it be? Can fuel pressure regulator be bad? have the same problem? Welcome to 2CarPros.
Why does my fuel mileage drop so fast?
The fuel pressure seems good. However, it shouldn’t drop off that fast. Since the engine isn’t running as it should fuel mileage has dropped, it almost seems as if there is a stuck injector or at least a leaking injector. Do me a favor. Here is a link that explains how to check injectors.
What should I do if my fuel tank is under pressure?
All power and resistance tests are okay. Then, I removed fuel rail with injectors and watched them while fuel system was under pressure, and no one of them was leaking. Spray patterns are all good enough. Additionally, I decided to stop fuel flow on the pipe from gas tank right after the pressure gauge by holding it with pliers.

What should fuel pressure be in a truck?
Fuel pressure test when cold, turn key on and spikes to almost 60psi, then quickly drops to about 10psi, but truck still starts ok. Holds pressure around 52psi. Turn key off and pressure drops rapidly. When motor hot, turn key on and climbs slowly mid 50s, then falls back down. Long crank and need to pump pedal to catch.

What does it mean when fuel pressure bleeds off?
Sounds like fuel pressure is bleeding off. It is not uncommon for this to happen on chrysler vehicles with your style fuel pump module. The first thing i would do is check fuel pressure with a fuel pressure gauge. The will be a test port on the fuel rail. You should see roughly 50 psi of pressure and it should hold pressure with the key off.
When do I lose fuel pressure on my Silverado?
I have a 2005 Chevy Silverado 1500 and I lose pressure gradually when I shut off the engine. When I go back to start it within an hour I cant get it to fire unless its turned over several times and I hit the gas. Ive replaced the fuel pressure regulator and ICV. No codes whats so ever.
