Is the fuel gauge on my XR8 still full?

My AU1 XR8 hasent had a full tank of fuel for about 8 months. I usually only put $30-$40 in it. I filled it right up this week and now the gauge seems to be stuck on a bit over full , the D.T.E is still working though.

Click to expand… The fuel guage and the right foot are proportional to each other . The harder you press , the faster the guage drops. A very strange phenomona indeed. Sounds like the guage sender has high sulpher built up , common problem on early build BA’s.

Hi having some trouble with fuel gauge, when tank full it reades full but drops down to empty (empty light comes on ) then goes back up to full again around every five minutes. When around half a tank just sits on a third and doesnt move DTE is useless and reads around 500Ks all the time ???

Tonight we filled it up after 345k’s and the Gauge showing 3/4 full and it took 45ltr’s, we drove out of the servo with the gauge showing full until we had driven about 150mtrs when the fuel light came on, bells started ringing and the trip computer said we had 0 klms to empty!!! Cheers, Bazza.

What fuel consumption figures are people getting out of there BA XR8, as I am looking at getting one. 24.7l/100 around 280 Tank! Belt it around…………. take a tanker with you. 24.7l/100 around 280 Tank! Is there anything wrong with the BA XR8 Ute?

There is nothing wrong with the 5-speeds. My brother has a BA XR8 ute with just under 90,000km on the clock and there is nothing wrong with it.
