The cable/coupling is on top of the shift column only 3-4″ from the shift lever. You don’t need to remove the lower clam shell or the column tilt lever; just unscrew the three screws, pull up the top of the clam shell, take out the pin, uncouple the cable & it’s off. Install in reverse order.

Why does my shift lever pop into Park?
Shift lever now stays weakly in “park” but pops into gear sometimes. Ford dealer had no interest in problem and merely referred me to manufacturer. Manufacturer referred me back to the dealer. Shifter mechanism is defectively designed and not fit for its intended use.
