Why does my car not rev up over 3000?
It looks to have gone into safe mode, which keeps it below 3000 revs to prevent engine damage. I’m surprised there isn’t another fault code as low EGR flow should not trigger it, many people have theirs blocked off. Could be worth trying a different code reader.

You can take it off with a programer. But its there for a reason and its a good thing.:hy: Mine WILL rev over 3,000 RPM’s – it just starts coughing at 85 mph and shuts down at about 90 mph. I found that out the first time I got mad at an old woman doing 25 mph on the highway and passed her. 6,000 RPM’s when it downshifted, in nothing flat!

So a little back round first. The engine has 10hours run time on it. Everything is pretty much brand new or reman. The issue is when driving when it hits 3000 RPM its like it hit a REV limiter. when in park again like it hit a REV limiter. When starting it take longer then it should to start (about 5sec of crank).

What to do if check engine light is on but no code?
Check the make and model of your reader to see what it is built for and if all else fails, head into a parts store and they should be able to read the issue at no cost to you. No code being generated on the reader does not mean the driver is in the clear.

Is there no power, won’t Rev, no code?
No Power, Won’t Rev, NO CODE!!!! My ’96 has me baffled again. This problem has been getting progressively worse over the past couple of months. The truck starts and idles fine. Put it into gear and accelerate, you have to give it a significant amount of throttle to get it up to speed. If you put it to the floor, it won’t rev beyond 4000 RPM.
