Reasons your car won’t detect the key fob the battery inside the remote is dead. the remote itself is broken or no longer programmed to your car. the car battery is low. the keyless operation system is faulty.

Oh and your not stranded if the battery dies, you can start the car by simply holding your foot on the brake and pressing the key against the push button (toyo symbol facing it) until it beeps. Then your set. No need to keep a spare battery.
