My 2010 Flex with 100k miles and 2 months past extended warranty just had a catastrophic engine failure due to the water pump. No noise, engine lights, leaks or problems in leading up to it, just an odd sound as I was pulling into driveway, and when I got out coolant was pouring out from under the right side of the engine.

Our 2010 n/a Flex is about to turn 100k and I’m seriously sweating the water pump. It is the family ride and I would hate to get stranded on vacation. Oil changes every 6k with synthetic, coolant flushed, air filter every 20k, nothing skipped or short changed. Around 50k I had to replace the starter, battery, and blend door actuator.

What was the problem with my Ford Flex?
My Flex sudden stopped last week, had it towed home to see what issue could be. After researching and most helpful info on htis site determined was water pump. Had Flex towed to local dealer to have diagnosed. Ford dealer started work on Monday and determined yes was water pump.
