Why does power steering stop working in 2015 Ford Explorer?
I have an Explorer XLT of 2015 with 86,352 miles. A few weeks ago, power steering started giving me problems. When I try to turn the parked steering wheel, it becomes hard and suddenly it releases and turns smooth. This worries me because I feel the steering wheel heavy on the highway and I’m afraid it will stop working at high speed. Any solution?

The service tech advised to bring the Explorer in today and they would also handle the recall fix and check the steering problem. The Ford Service person called me back and advised that steering had to be replaced and would cost $1,750 and was not covered under warranty which expired at 36,000 miles.
