What is the purpose of the CAC in turbocharging?
The purpose of the CAC is to cool charged air, which, in turn, increases the density of the air being sent to the cylinders. The CAC also helps to reduce the heat caused by the act of turbocharging. Hotter air is undesirable to engine performance as it contains fewer oxygen molecules than cooler air.
What do you need to know about Turbo Dukt?
TURBO-DUKT™ is a Hi-flow, low leakage ventilation ducting system for more demanding applications. Designed for extra-long vent runs, high wear areas and close to fans. Incorporates welded seams, low leakage construction – increased airflows.
What happens when the hose from Turbo to intake blows off?
Hose popped when pulling a trailer up a hill. Turbo boot blew off causing loss of power and being stranded on side of the highway. Had to be towed to local dealer and pay for a $95 boot. Installed new boot myself. Then 1 1/2 years later had the same problem happen again. Poor design and poor boot quality.
Why do you need a NACA air duct?
A NACA duct works well with sharp side edges to allow a side vortex to form – rarely seen in lower levels of motorsport. In fact, you can gain cooling performance at the cost of drag by adding a trip to the side edges. How the duct is closed is also an important (often ignored) design feature.

What’s the best way to prevent a turbocharging disaster?
The best way to prevent such a disaster from happening is to faithfully change air filters as recommended by the engine manufacturer. Changing filters also offers the benefit of preventing an excessive drop in air pressure and a vacuum at the turbocharger’s compressor oil seal.
