I have a 2001 Chevy Tahoe with the 5.3L engine. I have an odd issue with the AC and was hoping an expert can shed some light on the problem. When the truck is driving, the AC is ice cold. However, when I am idling for a couple of minutes, the AC will start to blow warmer air. Almost as if the ac is turned off and only the blower is working.

What kind of truck has cold air intake?
Truck is an 01 Sierra 1500 HT 4.8L V8 regular cab stepside, Cold Air Intake, Electric Fans, Custom Tune…. few other things that definitely don’t matter. My 2010 does it also… Jus saying Doesnt really “blow”…
Where are the AC fittings on a Silverado?
Just run to your local auto parts store, find a few bottles of R-134A, and load them up into the system through the low-side fitting. The fittings will be located in the upper-left hand corner of the engine compartment (if you’re looking INTO the compartment) coming off of the condensor.

Another reason I am starting to lean that direction is if I select “outside” air and set the temp control to cold the vents still blow hot/warm air – much warmer than the outside air. What can I check and does anybody have any suggestions??
