The most common cause of excessive oil temperature is a blockage in the oil galleries in the oil cooler. If the oil cooler isn’t working properly the oil will not be cooled to normal temperatures. Usually, but not always, a restriction in the oil cooler will not cause low oil pressure in the engine.

If it is in fact one of those aftermarket filters, remove it and pitch it in the trash can where it belongs, and put in an OEM oil filter and oil filter cap from Ford. They have been known to fail the o-ring on the cap and leak oil from that location too.

Ok were getting somewhere, pull the valve cover and check to see if theres any oil. also check the gaskets under the valve cover. Click to expand… ah….how’s this gonna help find the problem? Shouldn’t you normally see oil when you pull a valve cover?
