Why is the coolant not flowing through the heater core?
Why is the coolant not flowing through the heater core?
The thermostat was never mentioned. Also, the coolant may not be flowing through the heater core for reasons other than the obvious. The thermostat may be the culprit if you get half the normal amount of heat when the engine is fully hot.
What causes the heating or AC to stop working?
This can be caused by a number of things such as low coolant levels, a faulty thermostat, a clogged radiator or a failing coolant fan switch. As you may know the coolant fan switch helps to maintain the proper coolant…
Is the AC and heating system the same?
While both the heating and AC are connected – to an extent – within your car, they’re actually separate systems. Your car’s heater uses heated engine coolant to warm the air that is blown into the cabin, while the air…
Is the inlet hose to the heater core hot?
I even drianed the entire system and evacutated all the air out of the system and put a vaccum under and filled the system back up still nothing. The inlet hose to the heater core is very hot it comes out of the front of the engine but the out let hose is warm no where close to hot.
Can a bad heater core affect air conditioning?
Does a bad heater core affect air conditioning? In most cases, the answer is no. The heater relies on hot engine coolant, whereas the air conditioning (A/C) system uses refrigerant.
How is a heater core different from a radiator?
While the radiator transfers heat from the hot coolant into the atmosphere, the heater core transfers heat to the cabin. Like your car’s radiator, the heater core is a heat exchanger. But while the radiator transfers heat from the hot coolant into the atmosphere, the heater core transfers heat to the cabin.

Why is my air conditioner not heating properly?
This may cause the unit to cycle off due to compressor overload. Use the Electric Heat option. This turns off the heat pump (on models so equipped) and will warm the room with electric heat only. Use of this option may cause your utility bill to increase. Check and adjust if necessary the air directional louvers upward to promote improved airflow.
