Reverse and low/reverse clutches must be up and working. This trans has trouble with wear in the end cover where the stub sticks out to support the rotating mass, wear in the last seal ring groove closest to cover end could allow pressure drop to the reverse clutch and failed lockup. That should only be on high mileage car though.

Where are the reverse lights on the focus?
Right on top of the transaxle. To the side of and under the shift linkage. The shift linkage is actually what works on the sensor. When you select reverse, a pawl inside the case rolls under the ball in the bottom of the sensor pressing it and activating the reverse light. There are pics of it in there. lol. Just take a rest and keep looking.
Why do the reverse lights on my car not work?
Reverse Lights don’t work.. My reverse lights do not work, I tried the fuse box, and the bulbs, everything seems fine, dose someone have an idea what can it be?? [???] my brothers car had the same issue, luckily it was under warrenty and we took it in and we got it fixed.
