When I first got my truck I thought the dome on and off button was the little stick piece that pops in and out, but thats only to turn left or right to brighten or dim the lights. Right under is a button that has the dome picture on it. That’s the button that controls it. I too thought something was wrong with my dome lights till I figured it out.

It’s the upper flat part of the dome light switch on the left hand side of the dash, I just pushed that a couple times and now the interior dome light operate like they should with the doors being opened and the hand held key switch. Remove the dome and do continuity from the white wire to ground, disconnect the driver side door switch and see if that opens the circuit. If not continue on with the footwells then to the headlight switch till you get an open circuit.

I had two wires get too hot and they melted together. One of the wires was a 12v constant and the other one, I am guessing, controlled the inside lights…it took forever to figure out what was going on. I would check your wiring and make sure you dont have any wires touching that should not be touching. Electrical issues suck.

Taking the entire dash off is a pain in the a$$ ( if you want to see all of the wires). Hope this helps. Well after replacing almost everything ( Keyless remote module,door jam switches,etc) the problem so far has been fixed by replacing the headlight dimmer switch with a brand new one, I was able to get one on ebay for only $40.00. So far so good.
