What is a timing disk?
What is a timing disk?
The timing drive must drive the camshafts and thus control the opening and closing of the valves. In so doing the timing drive coordinates the timed interplay (timings) between piston and valve movements. Belt drive timing drives need tensioning pulleys and deflection rollers.
What is printer encoder disk?
An angular position sensor used to measure rotary or linear mechanical motion or rotations, optical disk encoders are critical to the functionality of devices that use them. These linear encoders measure linear motion or speed used in printers, scanners, plotters, and textile machinery.
How do you use a timing disc?
Timing discs are generally intended to be used on the crankshaft. You need top remove the primary cover and set the piston to TDC. Once at TDC I use white touch up paint to mark TDC on the alternator AND the rotor. You then attach the the timing disc and put the “0” mark at your TDC mark.
Is it possible to download a timing disc?
Download Timing discs Each of our timing disc files contains clockwise and anti-clockwise versions of the timing disc. If your printer can do it, you can print the timing discs straight onto card, cut around the outline and cut out the hole.
How big are the timing discs on a crankshaft?
All timing discs are 180mm diameter with one degree graduations, clearly marked every 10 degrees with the angle and, usefully, whether it is before or after TDC or BDC. The timing discs are for use on the crankshaft, not on any half-time shafts.
Can a timing disc be used on a half time shaft?
The timing discs are for use on the crankshaft, not on any half-time shafts. Other than the ‘generic’ disc, all discs are marked with the valve opening and closing angles and ignition angles as stated.
How big is a Brightspark magnetos timing disc?
Alternatively you can print on paper, and then stick the paper to a sheet of card or laminate it. All timing discs are 180mm diameter with one degree graduations, clearly marked every 10 degrees with the angle and, usefully, whether it is before or after TDC or BDC.
