What to do when your engine has no spark?

If there’s no spark or the spark is weak, check the resistance of the wire that connects the ignition coil to the distributor cap. Consult the wire resistance specifications in your repair manual.

Why is there no spark at the tip of the spark tester?

While the engine cranks, you should see a bright, blue spark at the tip of the spark tester. If there’s a good spark, including the rest of the cylinders, the ignition system is working properly. If only one or a few cylinders have a weak or no spark, the problem is in the secondary side of the system.

What to do if there is no spark at the coil?

Test for voltage from the ignition switch at the positive side of the coil. Refer to the above image. If there’s no voltage, check the wire between the ignition switch and the coil and, if necessary, the switch itself. If there’s voltage, the problem may be with the pickup unit.

What to do if your car has no spark?

Well for no spark, forget about the red stator wire. Your concerned with black wire only. Disconnect the stator plug from the coil plug. Connect the red lead of your meter to your black Stator wire. Connect the other lead of your meter to the frame/ground.

Why does my loom not have a spark?

Kick it over and see if you’ve got spark.Got spark then there is a problem with your loom, could be a short to earth on the black wire, could be a faulty killswitch or ignition switch, or the battery plug may be missing as this has a loop in it and if its not there the power from the black never gets to the coil.

How to measure no spark on a Z50?

Disconnect the stator plug from the coil plug. Connect the red lead of your meter to your black Stator wire. Connect the other lead of your meter to the frame/ground. When you kick the engine over, you should get and ac voltage (actually a pulsing DC) that approaches 6 volts, however, I would measure it using the dc range.
