How do you replace a passenger valve cover on a Ford PowerStroke?

Use a 9mm deep well socket to push the new compression washer over the nozzles and install the new o-rings. You can use either vasoline or engine oil to lube the injector o-rings. Oil is a little less messy but will smoke on initial startup for a minute or two.

How do you remove fuel injection valve cover?

Remove the nut to the oil dipstick tube, but instead of pulling the entire tube out, just rotatate it down and out of the way. Mark the position of the valve cover bolts and studs again, and remove. The Fuel Injection Control Module has 10mm bolts holding it down in the back, and 13mm bolts on the front.

Once the valve cover is off, you will see the high pressure rail sitting underneath. There is a hydraulic line with a quick disconnect fitting going to it- chances are you won’t have the tool to remove the line, but don’t worry about it.

Can you remove the valve cover on a 5.4 3V?

The passenger side valve cover on the 5.4 3V is harder to remove. this would be easier if the AC was recovered so you could remove some of the lines. I also found that removing the inner fender of the passenger side made things easier as well. In the end i had to remove the bolts in the valve cover to fully get it out. Loading…

In this video doing the ford f150 5.4 3V engine timing we are removing the valve covers to get access to the timing components. The drivers side valve cover was pretty easy to get off. The passenger side valve cover on the 5.4 3V is harder to remove. this would be easier if the AC was recovered so you could remove some of the lines.
