Can I plug off my PCV valve?
Can I plug off my PCV valve?
Re: plugging the pcv valve (spaceman) It is designed to open (spring loaded) once oil vapor pressure is maxxed. The oil vapors are then directed to your intake manifold where they are combusted. You would NEVER want to plug the PCV valve. I recommend replacing the PCV valve yearly.
Why is my PCV sucking oil into the intake?
Probably due to the oil galley filling up with oil, but the seperator was not able to keep the oil out of the intake. I swaped to a larger 351 lightning PCV & that made things worse….cause it was able to suck MORE air/oil than the 302 valve.
When to replace PCV valve on Ford Escort?
You’ll hear a rattle. If you don’t, it is time to replace the valve. Even if the valve rattles, if your engine is experiencing one or more of the bad PCV valve symptoms described above, it’s a good idea to replace the valve. Some vehicles—including some old Ford Escort models—come equipped with a small, hollow, plastic block with no moving parts.
Is there fresh air in the intake pipe?
No fresh air introduced. Blue87: Only under boost will there be air flowing through the tube on the valvecover. I still run a baffle in the Valvecover & have never had oil get in that line. Like I said, mine was that way from TTI. The impeller is completely clean…just pulled the intake pipe as a matter of fact.
What happens if you leave a hole in the intake?
Moreover, leaving the open hole on the intake side will throw your fuel/air mixture off slightly if the hole is downstream of the air mass meter. At a minimum, you’re letting unfiltered, dirty air into the engine, which will cause it to wear out faster.
Why do I need a PCV valve in my Ford F150?
To prevent these contaminants from condensing in the crankcase and causing sludge, fuel contaminating the engine oil, or excessive crankcase pressures, a PCV valve is in place to allow the vacuum of the engine to siphon vapors from the crankcase and reduce pressure and the formation of moisture.
