Why does my Ford F-150 shut down after 2 miles?

Same exact problem on my 95 f-150 4.9L. Runs great first start but after 2 miles or if very hot outside, it heaves and misses and eventually shuts down. Starts after sitting for 45 minutes again. I did replace rotor, cap wires plugs and coolant temp sensor as well as the starter.

Do you need a flex-fuel sensor to run E85?

You’ll need a flex fuel sensor to monitor the ethanol content per tank as it *could* vary seasonally between about 50-85%.. Without this, you will have to test EVERY batch of gas you put in your tank to verify. The flex sensor just makes it easier to watch on the fly.
