Why is low Def light on but tank is full?

On the way home from the shop I did a test drive. Shortly after picking the truck up it started an active regen and about 5 minutes later the low DEF indicator lamp came on. The gauge shows the truck is full and I also topped off the DEF fluid hoping that that would solve the problem but I have not had any luck.

What makes the low Def warning light go off?

It can be anything in the DEF system and that light will go off. The ’12 T660 I’m in started this at 20K, and was low only one time. Finally it De-rated and got towed to the KW shop in Nashville. Turned out to be a sensor somewhere in the exhaust system.
