I have a 2003 380 air cooled and it does same thing. I can run for hours without an issue. Then out of the blue, shuts off and won’t start until it cools. Two mechanics have replaced regulator twice and stator once but still does same thing. nothing worse than worrying if it will shut down when out for a ride.

The truck starts right back up every time. Once you get past the little hesitation she is smooth as silk. The TPS is new, the IAC valve is new and the MAF sensor is new. The temperature gauge doesn’t work the switch might be bad but I think the truck would run like crap all the time if that were the case…

Usually if there are no hard codes the light stays off, so you are probably there anyway. More than likely you have a vacuum problem. probable a line, ir a gasket.
