The problem: according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, vehicles “may experience localized overheating of the engine cylinder head which may cause cracks that could allow oil to leak”. If that oil leaks onto the hot engine, it could start a fire.
What’s the VIN on a’13 escape’?
The VIN is 1FMCU9GX8DUD70681. I checked the battery terminals and other electrical connections in the engine bay and all appeared tight. I couldn’t find a similar problem by searching the forum threads. The overall unreliability of this Escape has me unwilling to get very far from home with it.
