What do fuel TRIM codes mean on a 4 cylinder engine?

What do fuel TRIM codes mean on a 4 cylinder engine?

The codes would indicate the engine was running rich but it ACTUALLY is running lean. If you use only the false rich codes to diagnose and don’t observe all the fuel trim and o2 sensor data, you may make a false diagnosis. Also, each bank has it’s own fuel trim reading. If your engine is a 4 cylinder, then it has only one bank, Bank 1.

What should the idle speed be on a GM TBI?

Insert a T-30 size Torx driver into the Idle adjustment screw that is located behind the plug removed earlier. Turn the screw to adjust the idle speed to 650 RPM +/- 50 RPM. Turn off the engine and disconnect the negative battery terminal from the battery using a wrench.

When to use fuel trim ( Ming ) diagnostic time?

Fuel Trim (ming) Diagnostic Time. In some cases, the PCM might limit LTFT to a specific maximum or minimum value. For example, if the maximum LTFT adjustment is +25% and the total fuel trim adjustment is +30%, then LTFT will report +25% and STFT will report +5%, for a total fuel trim value of +30%.

What does it mean when fuel trim data is failing?

In this example, the fuel trim data was failing in both banks and every operating range—idle speed, light load, moderate load and heavy load—which means the lean condition was present in all driving conditions. What are your thoughts about an intake air leak now?

What makes a 7.3L diesel go away?

At interstate speeds it feels like it goes away or above 1800 rpm but that is when turbo is spooled up. It has a slow rpm climb not sure if that’s how the 7.3 operates. I was thinking fuel filters in tank but that would cause it to get worse at highway speeds, right?

What kind of idle does a diesel truck have?

Looks like three injectors was changed, oil was dark black. Idle is slightly better warm but still shakes the truck. Cold start it hunts for idle speed, I give it a little gas for about a min and then it idle steady but rough. It does have to warm up for a few minutes or it has very little throttle response.
