To remove the bolsters I used a hacksaw blade straight down from the top between the bolster and the parcel shelve . The clip is only down about three inches and takes a bit of feeling for it to locate it. Once the spring clip is depressed the top of the bolster will come out easy and you just lift it off the lower mount

Have just got a full set of custom made seat covers, front and back, for my ’05 XR6, which include a cover section for the side bolsters in the rear. However i am at a loss as to how to remove these bolsters to allow for fitting (and they have to be removed, as the covers have three tie strings which go around the back of the bolster).
