The “pinging” noise you hear is coming from the hot metal cooling under your car. As you drive, the engine and all the parts around it start to heat up and expand. Once you turn the car off, those metals will cool and contract. These tiny bumps produce the “pang” or “ping” you hear coming from your turned-off car.

Fan constantly running. Dianosed to be relay. But have been told the whole fan assembly has to replaced at a cost of £700 plus labour plus VAT. Is this correct? Or can relay which is attached to the fan unit be replaced on its own?

Its only after a “warm” run (ie after being in comparatively slow traffic, or perhaps on a particularly warm day) Other occasions, it doesnt come on at all. The engine always seems to run at a normal temp according to the gauge, (just below half way), but its obviously kicking in due to the “warmer” run

I had this problem before.. where the radiator fan constantly goes on/gives turning even after i switch off the car, draining my car battery. I resolved this problem about 2.5 months ago by fitting a new thermostat. However the problem has now returned again.

it wont be the thermostat it will be the thermo switch on the radiator that needs replaced if it was the thermostat then you have some issues ide take it into ford and have it looked at and im sure it will be this switch
