When did I Buy my Ford Mondeo III?
Bought it 2 years ago, 2004 TDCi, and was as pleased as punch with the fuel economy and power ratio…great car. Then the problems started. I have been doing a lot of reading of posts on forums, and know this is a common problem that has driven better people than me to dispair!

Solution: A common problem with this year TDCi engine is a bad connection for the fuel pressure sensor. To rectify the problem, a gold electrical connector should be used instead of the tin connector. Problem: Engine does not run properly or fails to start.

Change the oil and filter. – possibly use a slightly “heavier” oil which will reduce the sound. When Cold . a bit.. eg if using 5/30 go to 10/30. (You want a higher number when cold – so the first number should be higher) but a maximum of 10 I would suggest or winter cold starting will be impaired..)

Is there a judder in the Mondeo TDCi?
Immediately it had more power and no judder at all so out came the MAF which had a quick a spray with carb cleaner before putting back in, even though it looked fine.
Can you put a blanking plate on a Mondeo TDCi?
Bit of a Mondeo TDCi trait….. Depending on the age of the car you could fit a blanking plate on the EGR valve. If its a Euro 3 engine this will cause no issues but if its a Euro 4 it will put the engine management light on. Wont cause any problems but the light can be annoying for some..
Is there a cure for a Mondeo TDCi hesitation?
That didn’t help so the conclusion was to replace it, but whilst googling for a parts price tonight I found this old Honest John thread that seems to describe the exact same symptoms (albeit on 130 TDCi’s) with the same “cure” when disconnecting the MAF, but when replaced the fault remained!
