In my experience the Fiesta has a very stiff gearbox. Our 2012 studio has had a crap gear change from new. Ford said it would improve with mileage. It didn’t. Ford now says it can’t find anything wrong with it…it’s still stiff…the new fiesta loan car we were given for the day had covered under a thousand miles and was even worse than ours!

How to fix stiff gear selection / change problem?
The problem is due to the bushes on the gear linkage lever drying out and when the engine and gearbox get hot they expend and tighten around the pin/spindle which allows the lever to pivot which gives the stiff problem. Just pop this part off, ream/drill the hole, grease it up and put it back on.
