The cable pulls the catch lever towards battery side of car. But no way a screwdriver could reach the relevant part with bonnet closed. If I feel behind lever in car I can feel the cable. So if I pulled the lever, I can then put my thumb behind lever on top of cable and pull cable down towards floor to give it extra pull. Hope this helps
