Do you mean the dead lock switch on the right hand side of the latch switch panel on the tail gate, if yes, are you saying that it should be open circuit in the rest position? If this is so then it is working correctly.

Can a key open the boot on a Mondeo?
Yes, I can walk up to the car with the key in my pocket and the car will unlock as I touch the door, it will then start once the drivers door has been shut. On the front door handles they have a small black buttons to check that it has locked. The boot will not open with either the key or the latch switch. There is no noise from the latch at all.

When the switch is pressed it sends this earth From the switch PIN1 ( Green and Violet wire ) direct to the BCMII at Connector 5 – PIN 19 ( Green and Violet wire) ( Fuse box under glove box ) letting the BCMII know that the tailgate is locked and therefore not allowing the tailgate to open ( as this is controlled by the BCMII )
