What does it mean when your car has a ticking noise?
The most common cause of engine ticking is a noisy valve train. Your valves have to open and close once for every 2 times your engine spins around. If there is excessive play in these components you can usually hear them “tick” as they shift around while your engine is running.

When I turn on the fan (whether it is recirculating or not) it begins clicking. A few seconds later it smells almost as if something is burning. Sounds like it is coming from behind the glove box.

Where does the clicking noise come from in my car?
I have recently started hearing a clicking noise (almost exactly like the noise a blinker signal makes) that is coming from behind the dash board on the passengar side of the car between the glove compartment and center console area. I can’t identify why it starts, but have noticed that it usually occurs when the a/c is turned off.
