Why does my Ford Galaxy not start up?

Sometimes from cold it starts and runs for less than a second and then wont start. Eventually it does and there is no problem running or restarting. A month ago it would not start at all and garage said there was air in the feed pipe. It then worked fine until last week and now will not start at all.

Can a Ford 2.0tdci start without glow plugs?

2.0TDCI will start in this weather without glow plugs. They’ll also normally start with minimal cranking in the depths of winter without functioning glow plugs. What are the problems with a 1998 Ford Galaxy?

These issues are associated with the 1998 Galaxy and seem to mainly be in the lower gears. The cause of this could be a loose engine cover which is vibrating off the PCV hose to the air intake. Fitting dampers underneath the engine cover will solve this problem.

Why does my Ford Galaxy make a funny noise?

On a Ford Galaxy manufactured in 2000 there are known speed control issues. This is usually down to the speed control vacuum pump which is letting in water. A new vacuum pump should be fitted with the correct ventilation pipe to solve the problem. Any Galaxy up to 2003 which has a booster heater may hear a funny noise when the heater is in use.

How can I tell if my Ford Galaxy has a fault?

If the car has front and rear parking sensors then testing the system is a must, a fault condition is identified by either a long continuous tone when the system is engaged (reverse selected or button on dash pressed) and/or a flashing icon within the button. In some cases the system may not respond at all.
