Why do I need to replace my ETACS unit?
The ETACS unit is shorted. I would like to replace it but the replacement unit from the dealer (same part number) is not the same nor does it funtion as it should. The shorted unit: The power window relay stays energized. The map lights function. Electric mirrors function. Sunroof functions. Rear defroster does not function.
How does the EATC air conditioner system work?
The eatc system also has manual overides for all of it’s features, so on a damp day you can manually tell the system to direct the air towards the windshield. Or during the summer, you could manually tell the system to direct cooled air at your feet under the dash. Similarly, the blower speed can be overidden by turning a knob.
What’s the difference between Dash to headlamp and EATC?
The 14290 dash to headlamp electrical harness is also different between a police cruiser and it’s eatc equipped civilian counterpart. The only difference that affects this project is that the police harness doesn’t have the connector on it for the exterior air temperature sensor.

Can a changed ETACS, how to program?
I might be wrong but I believe the ETACS is one of the items that cannot be reprogramed and can only be replaced with a new uncoded unit which can have a one time VIN number put into it. The same problem occurs with a module that might have a identical part number but has different software specific to vehicle options.
What does ETACS stand for in a car?
FYI—-ETACS stands for “Electronic Time and Alarm Control System”. This ECU controls CAN data throughout the vehicle and also uses a LIN buss (separate from the CAN buss) to control the steering column slave ECU.
Is the LIN bus connected to the ETACS module?
LIN bus is only for steering column switches. That is not connected at all. Immobilizer key ring “antenna” is directly connected to etacs module. I have double checked that and even measured with multimeter. Also in the ecu errors I have one witch says that another car key is learnt, that shows its working.
